The Natura Foundation is proud to present the results of the exhaustive inventory of the existing condition of the trails in the provinces of Cocl\u00e9, Panam\u00e1 Oeste, Panam\u00e1 and Col\u00f3n, in a project financed by the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF). and in collaboration with the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP).<\/p>\n

Notable Achievements:<\/p>\n

Extensive Inventory: We have meticulously identified and mapped 150 trails, covering a staggering total of 654 km, strategically distributed across the project’s 4 provinces. It is important to highlight the high potential of trails discovered in the provinces of Col\u00f3n and Cocl\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Areas of Interest: Mapping revealed areas of special potential, with the “Panama Canal Trail” route being a highlight, where 70% of its appeal is located in the picturesque province of Col\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Pilot Projects for Trail Rehabilitation: The Natura Foundation is pleased to announce the identification of 3 pilot projects for trail rehabilitation. Two of these projects will be carried out in the province of Cocl\u00e9, while the third will be located in the province of Panam\u00e1 Oeste. These projects will not only promote environmental conservation but will also offer unique opportunities for nature experiences.<\/p>\n

Georeferenced Map in ArcGIS Online: For a more interactive experience, we have developed a georeferenced map in ArcGIS Online, fully detailing all identified trails. We invite the community to explore and discover the natural wealth that Panama has to offer.<\/p>\n

This project, promoted by Fundaci\u00f3n Natura, demonstrates the commitment to preserving the environment and promoting sustainable tourism in collaboration with important entities such as the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean and the Tourism Authority of Panama. We thank all participants and collaborators for making this important step towards the conservation and promotion of Panama’s natural heritage possible.<\/p>\n
